History

The Department of Chemistry started its journey in 2009 with six faculty members. We have come a long way since then and have several accomplishments to our credit both for the Department as well as at the individual level. Some of the highlights of our achievements are:
The Department of Chemistry is the First Department of West Bengal State University to be nominated for sponsorship by FIST-DST, Ministry of Science & Technology in the year 2012.
Several faculty members visited abroad with prestigious fellowships
Several faculty members have obtained research grants under the DST Fast Track scheme
Active link/collaboration with several international laboratories are ongoing
Nearly thirty percent of the PG students of the Chemistry Department have qualified in NET/GATE
The department offers M.Sc. in Chemistry with three specialisations, viz. Inorganic, Organic, Physical chemistry.
The department also offers Ph.D. in chemistry.
